Grand Lodge of England
The Orange Order reached England in 1807 spread by soldiers returning to the Manchester area from service in Ireland.
The Orange Order in England is strongest in Liverpool including Toxteth & Garston. Its presence in Liverpool dates back to 1819 when the first recorded parade was held to mark the anniversary of the Battle of the Boyne on 12th July.
The Orange Order spread throughout England via military lodges. Our lodge was created by The Royal Engineers in Aldershot before moving to Lewes. The fastest growing lodges are right here in the South East. Our District has 3 lodges with Worthing & Gillingham making up District 88.
We parade in London for St George's Day & Remembrance Day and also a special event in Seaford took place for the 100th anniversary of the 36th Ulster Division's departure for Flanders Field in WW1.
Other annual local parades include Petersfield, Portsmouth and Southampton.
2024 Eastbourne hosted Grand Lodge and a parade took place for only the 2nd time in Sussex.
